The Four Cs

Cut

How well the stone is shaped and faceted to maximize light return and brilliance.

Color

The absence of color (for diamonds) or the hue intensity (for colored stones).

Clarity

The presence or absence of internal inclusions and surface blemishes.

Carat

The weight, which influences rarity and price but not always beauty.

Beyond the Certificate

A GIA or AGS certificate tells you the measurements, but your eye tells you the truth. Ballance and proportion matter more than perfect scores. Some "imperfect" stones have more life than those graded higher.

We recommend seeing stones in person, under different lighting, before deciding. Let your intuition guide you as much as the numbers.
